Save Historic Antietam Foundation Creates Agency Fund

HAGERSTOWN, Maryland, November 22, 2019—Save Historic Antietam Foundation (SHAF) recently created an agency fund at the Community Foundation of Washington County MD, Inc. to provide unrestricted financial support for current initiatives of SHAF to preserve the environs in and around Antietam Battlefield and other sites of the Maryland Campaign.

Established in 1986, Save Historic Antietam Foundation is a nonprofit organization working to preserve and protect historic sites connected to the Maryland Campaign as well as other important sites in the region threatened by development or demolition. SHAF works to accomplish this mission through public education, historic preservation advocacy, fundraising and by purchasing scenic easements.

“The Community Foundation of Washington County was recommended to us as a locally-managed organization that serves its donors well,” said Dr. Thomas G. Clemens, SHAF President. “SHAF is an all-volunteer agency, and the Community Foundation takes a burden off our leaders by providing an easy way for our members to donate and be acknowledged for their gifts. We are thrilled to be affiliated with them.”

Donations may be made to the Save Historic Antietam Foundation, Inc. Fund at the Community Foundation by sending a check to 37 S. Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or by credit card on the Community Foundation’s website at www.cfwcmd.org.
