We will be working at Antietam National Battlefield, at the middle portion of the East Woods along Cornfield Ave. There is extremely limited parking there, so it is best to park in the grass Overflow Lot opposite the Visitor Center and walk up Smoketown road to the work site. If you want to drive by East Woods to unload tools, coolers, etc. you may do so. Just don’t park there.
Our job will be cutting and clearing non-native and nuisance trees & shrubs. The NPS will provide some tools, but you may bring along your own loppers, hand saws, etc. if you prefer. Be sure they are marked to avoid confusion with NPS tools.
We will work from 9 until 12, weather permitting. We will cancel for heavy or steady rain and post a notice on the SHAF website the night before.
As always, dress for the weather, long sleeves are best, gloves needed, and sturdy footwear too. It is a good idea bring your own drinks if you want anything.
