SUMMARY:2025 Fall Work Day
DESCRIPTION:***Our work day is cancelled due to the park being closed. We will look into rescheduling if possible when the park is opened for operations. Thank you for your interest in helping this year.*** \nWe will be working at Antietam National Battlefield\, at the middle portion of the East Woods along Cornfield Ave. There is extremely limited parking there\, so it is best to park in the grass Overflow Lot opposite the Visitor Center and walk up Smoketown road to the work site. If you want to drive by East Woods to unload tools\, coolers\, etc. you may do so. Just don’t park there. \nOur job will be cutting and clearing non-native and nuisance trees & shrubs. The NPS will provide some tools\, but you may bring along your own loppers\, hand saws\, etc. if you prefer. Be sure they are marked to avoid confusion with NPS tools. \nWe will work from 9 until 12\, weather permitting. We will cancel for heavy or steady rain and post a notice on the SHAF website the night before. \nAs always\, dress for the weather\, long sleeves are best\, gloves needed\, and sturdy footwear too. It is a good idea bring your own drinks if you want anything. \nIt will be VERY helpful if we know how many are coming. Please respond on the website or send an email to shaf.org. Thank you!

SUMMARY:2025 Spring Work Day
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Spring Work Day on March 1\, 2025\, is fast approaching! We will work at East Woods\, the same place at Antietam National Battlefield where we worked last fall. We will continue to clear non-native brush to restore the original appearance of the site\, which helps our visitors better understand what happened there. \nAgain\, this will depend upon the weather\, and we will post any cancellations on our website the night before. Please arrive by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday\, March 1. Park in the Overflow Lot across the road from the Visitor Center. We will carpool and/or walk to the site from there. As always\, dress for the weather\, bring gloves\, hand tools\, water\, and whatever else you need. We will work until about noon. It will help us if you can send an email or message to let us know you’re coming.
