SHAF Spring Work Day 2009

February 21, 2009

Please join SHAF members and other volunteers for a Work Day at Antietam National Battlefield (ANB) Park on Saturday, March 28, 2009. We’ll be doing battlefield scene restoration - either more work in the Piper Lane or planting trees in the East Woods.

As always for these events, please dress for the weather, and bring work gloves and water.

We will meet at 9:00am Saturday at the ANB Visitor’s Center. The event will be canceled in the event of rain or other inclement weather, in which case the event will move to the rain date of April 11.

Please let us know by email, the online contact form, or phone at 301-432-2996 to notify us if you’ll be there.

Col. Strong's horse

Antietam Witness

The number of dead horses was high. They lay, like the men, in all attitudes. One beautiful milk-white animal had died in so graceful a position that I wished for its photograph. Its legs were doubled under and its arched neck gracefully turned to one side, as if looking back to the ball-hole in its side. Until you got to it, it was hard to believe the horse was dead.
